Alison Lee was on a roll at the end of 2023 and was eager to continue her momentum into 2024. However, a setback occurred in January when she suffered an unexpected injury to her left hand after being bitten by her boyfriend’s dog. This left her hospitalized and unable to start her season until three weeks ago at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, where she was disappointed with her performance in Singapore.
After struggling in her first start of the season, Lee expressed her fear of losing her form and the unpredictability of golf. Despite tying for 51st in the HSBC event, she remained positive, sought guidance from her coaches, and received encouragement from golf legend Fred Couples. Lee’s confidence received a boost from Couples’ kind words and the hard work she had put in.
The support from Couples, along with her coaches and practice, helped Lee shoot a 5-under 66 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Southern California, positioning her just two shots off the 18-hole lead. As she aims for her first LPGA title and spots on the U.S. Olympic team and U.S. Solheim Cup team, Lee credits her recent success to the confidence she has gained and the effort she has invested.
