Shivam Dube, the 30-year-old Chennai Super Kings player, has been named as an ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Dube’s resurgence in form since joining the team has led to his inclusion in the squad. During the last IPL season, he scored over 400 runs for the first time and his performance has continued to improve.

Dube has already scored 350 runs in just nine matches with an impressive strike rate of 172.41 in this ongoing IPL season. His ability to face fast bowlers has notably improved, a skill that was previously overshadowed by his reputation as a spin-hitter. This rise in form has led to his inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad, replacing Rinku Singh.

Rinku Singh, who was previously considered a guaranteed selection in India’s T20I lineup, has seen a drop in form during the recent IPL season at the Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite boasting an impressive average and strike rate in previous international matches, Singh has struggled to make an impact in the current IPL season. With only 120 runs scored in nine games and fluctuations in his role in the team, Singh has been relegated to the reserve list for the upcoming T20 World Cup. This has opened up an opportunity for Shivam Dube to showcase his talent on an international stage.
