In 2023, while driving in Trumbull, Bedoya spilled hot coffee and got out of her car. She dropped her phone and saw a man approaching her in the distance. Despite feeling alone, she initially declined his offer of help. However, when he came up behind her and grabbed her, Bedoya relied on her training to react. She kicked him in the groin, stomach, and then pushed him away before quickly getting back into her car and driving off.

Bedoya credits her training with giving her both the mental and physical skills necessary to escape unharmed. She emphasizes that being prepared and confident is key in such scenarios.
