French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin addressed the country’s preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics during a joint press conference, despite the tense security situation. According to Darmanin, France is well-prepared for various critical scenarios that may arise during the event.

The Minister highlighted that the mobilization of law enforcement agencies will allow them to address the three major risks that could affect France during the summer: terrorism, migration surges from a collapsing country, and large forest fires. He emphasized that highly secured major events are paradoxically the safest places with the lowest probability of incidents, as demonstrated by past events such as the Rugby World Cup and visits by prominent figures like the Pope and the British royal family.
