A shooting outside a business in Fairfield resulted in the death of a man on Monday morning. The incident took place around 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of FireRock Products, a paver manufacturer located at 3620 Avenue C in Fairfield.

The victim, a 47-year-old employee of the business, was on a break when he was targeted by someone who opened fire on him, firing multiple shots. He was rushed to UAB Hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. This tragic event marks the fourth homicide in Jefferson County since Friday. The other recent homicides include the death of a 52-year-old man in Adamsville, an unidentified man in Midfield, and a 32-year-old mother in McCalla. Her husband has been arrested on capital murder charges.

The total number of homicides in Jefferson County this year has risen to 49 as a result of this latest tragedy. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this morning’s deadly shooting to come forward and contact sheriff’s investigators at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
