Fleet Week has arrived in South Florida, and this year, the U.S. military has chosen Miami as its destination. The week of events began at PortMiami on Sunday, where guests were treated to a free performance by the U.S. Navy Band. Attendees had the opportunity to meet sailors and Marines, as well as witness real K-9 training demonstrations.

Dr. Cassie Freund, the director of science communication at Frost Science, expressed excitement about having the Navy in Miami for Fleet Week. She highlighted the significance of the Navy’s presence in a city located on the ocean, emphasizing the importance of their role in the community. The Navy’s participation in demonstrating different types of science was also noted as valuable.
