First Lady Jill Biden visited Research Triangle Park in Durham on March 20 to promote the administration’s initiative on women’s health research. The event was attended by around 50 people, and more photos were added to the content at 6:09 p.m.

President Joe Biden signed an Executive Order on March 18 addressing women’s health as part of the initiative. This order aims to prioritize women’s health research by directing federal agencies and departments, such as the Office of Management and Budget and the National Institutes of Health, to focus on this issue.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper introduced the first lady at the event and highlighted the state’s progress in women’s health, including the Medicaid expansion he implemented in 2023. Cooper expressed excitement about the partnership with the Biden administration and the potential impact on women’s health in North Carolina.

Jill Biden announced that the administration had launched the first White House initiative on women’s health research in November with the goal of changing how the nation approaches and funds research on women’s health. She emphasized the importance of research and innovation in women’s health, noting that it has far-reaching effects on women, their children, and their families.

Cooper praised Jill Biden for her dedication to improving women’s health and thanked her for visiting North Carolina to address this critical issue. The first lady also took time to speak with attendees, answer questions, and provide insights into her experiences working with President Biden to advance this important cause.
