This weekend, families and students of all ages had the opportunity to engage with science at the UW-Madison Science Expeditions event. The three-day community open house event was held at various buildings on the campus, providing interactive science and art activities for everyone to enjoy. Val Blair, the senior outreach coordinator for Morgridge Institute for Research, explained that the event is a longstanding tradition at UW-Madison and offers people a chance to learn about the science research happening on campus.

Community groups like the Henry Vilas Zoo and the Wisconsin Science Museum also participated in the event. This year’s event was particularly special because it was in partnership with UW-Madison’s 175th Celebration, offering even more activities and opportunities for exploration.

Val Blair shared how rewarding it is to see families immerse themselves in the scientific experiences at the event. Children get to play the role of scientists, ask questions about the world around them, and engage in hands-on learning activities. It’s a day filled with excitement, curiosity, and exploration for families exploring the campus together.

The event is free and open to the public, running through Sunday. For more information on the schedule and locations, individuals and families can access transportation shuttles for convenience.
