During Disney’s closing CinemaCon session on Thursday, exhibitors got an exclusive look at footage from Marvel Studios’ upcoming release Captain America: Brave New World. The new Anthony Mackie movie takes place after the events of the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where Sam Wilson takes over the shield left behind by Steve Rogers.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige described the film as “a grounded political thriller” while on stage at Caesars Palace in the Colosseum. He then introduced Mackie, who expressed his excitement at starring in his own Marvel movie after starting in these films ten years ago. Mackie wasted no time and introduced the exclusive footage to the audience.

In the clip, Harrison Ford’s character, the President of the United States, asks Sam Wilson to rebuild the Avengers based on his impressive actions in Mexico. Wilson expresses concern about potential disagreements in managing the new team. The next scene shows Ford making a presentation to a room full of authorities, only for some individuals, including Isaiah Bradley and a general, to become possessed and turn against the crowd, including Ford’s character. A scuffle ensues, reminiscent of a scene in “Air Force One.”

Directed by Julius Onah and written by Malcolm Spellman, Dallan Musson, and Matthew Orton, Captain America: Brave New World is set to release on February 14, 2025.
