The Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club held its annual Wine and Shoe Extravaganza at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville, Jefferson County. This event is a fundraiser for local scholarships, with three scholarships awarded each year to support the cost of education. The scholarships are available to Ohio Valley seniors pursuing education at a college or trade school, as well as to women returning to school after leaving the workforce.

The event celebrated the accomplishments of women in the community and raised funds to support the educational aspirations of local students and professionals. Attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favorite shoes, celebrity servers, and Woman of the Year. The 2024 Woman of the Year was Judge Michelle Miller, who expressed her gratitude for being nominated by a women’s organization. She acknowledged the honor of being recognized among such successful and inspiring women.

Amelia Taggart, a member of OVBPW, explained that the scholarships aim to support women who may have taken a break from education or have decided to pursue a new career path. The organization is committed to helping these women achieve their educational goals by providing financial assistance. By providing these scholarships, OVBPW aims to empower women in the community and provide them with opportunities for growth and success.
