The Conservative party is facing significant challenges in the years ahead, despite positive economic indicators. Tom Lubbock from JL Partners and former analytics chief for the Conservatives mentioned that what really matters is that people are calling for a change in approach to various aspects, whether it be the economy or public services. According to Lubbock, the Conservative party needs to improve their brand on economic competence, as it has been moving in the wrong direction recently.

The erosion of public confidence in the Tory party’s economic management skills was significant during Truss and Sunak’s tenure. Inflation remained high during May, June, and July, and recent positive developments for the Prime Minister haven’t yet translated into improved poll numbers. While there is hope that an England victory in the Euro 2024 football tournament could provide an economic boost and uplift the spirits of the nation, fans often count on this to happen without realizing it can lead to disappointment.

As such, while there may be some optimism for the future, significant challenges remain ahead for the Conservative party in coming years. It will require a shift in approach and a commitment to improving their brand on economic competence if they want to regain public trust and maintain their position as a viable political force.
