Families searching for fun and educational activities during spring break can look no further than The Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, CA. From March 30 to April 7, the science center is offering a packed schedule of special events, extended hours, and activities for all ages.
One of the highlights of the spring break schedule is an earth architecture project led by Osage artist Brooke Smiley. Titled EARTH.SPEAKS, this project aims to uplift Native voices through the creation of earth markers as a sustainable practice of sculpture building. Participants will have the opportunity to get a little muddy and be part of this community art project.
Another exciting exhibit at The Lawrence Hall of Science is an 8-foot anatomically correct human heart sculpture created by the Flaming Lotus Girls. This sculpture will pulse with flames to simulate blood flow through vessels and will have pyrotechnics displays on specific days during spring break.
Visitors can also learn about lighting and wildfires through an enlightening event, as well as make sun prints from the museum’s outdoor plaza with a stunning view of San Francisco Bay. And on April 8, there will be an eclipse viewing party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
