Liam Jones, a 23-year-old student from Dundee, Scotland, went missing from the MSC Euribia cruise ship on March 17 during a trip around Northern Europe. The man reportedly sent a message to his wife expressing that he felt seasick before disappearing.

The cruise had departed from Southampton, England and was heading to various ports in Europe, including Hamburg, Germany, Rotterdam, Netherlands, Bruges, Belgium and Le Havre, France.

MSC Cruises believes that Jones intentionally went overboard. The ship was scheduled to visit these ports but upon returning to Southampton police boarded the vessel to investigate the incident. The cruise line expressed deep sadness over the situation and extended condolences to the family of Jones, refraining from sharing additional details out of respect for their privacy.

Sophia Mcphee, Jones’ wife stated that she received little information about the incident and shared that her husband had mentioned feeling seasick in his final text message to her. She expressed devastation over the situation and realized she may never see him again.
