The ruler of Dubai has announced that construction has officially commenced on a new terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport. The aim of the project is to make it the world’s largest airport, with a capacity to handle up to 260 million passengers annually.

The new terminal will cost AED 128 billion as part of Dubai Aviation Corporation’s strategy. It will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport and will feature 400 aircraft gates to ensure smooth operations. The airport will also have five parallel runways to efficiently manage air traffic and introduce new aviation technologies.

The project is estimated to cost about ₹2900 Crores and the first phase, capable of accommodating 150 million passengers per year, is set to be completed within 10 years. The ruler of Dubai mentioned that they are developing an entire city around the airport in Dubai South, which will host leading companies in the logistics and air transport sectors. This development will require housing for a million people and is designed to ensure continuous and stable development for future generations.

The ruler stated that Dubai will become the world’s airport, port, urban hub, and new global center. The project at Al Maktoum International Airport represents a significant step towards the development and growth of Dubai’s aviation industry.
