Dr. Lana Ivanitskaya has been recognized with the 2024 Student Mentorship Award for her outstanding commitment to mentoring students beyond what is expected. With over 20 years of experience, she has supervised dissertation committees for 37 Doctor of Health Administration students and taught over 200 courses.
Seven of her mentees have received the Outstanding Dissertation Award from CMU, and many have gone on to hold prestigious positions such as academic department heads, directors of doctoral programs, and even National Health Secretaries.
One of Ivanitskaya’s mentees currently serves as the Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Affairs of the Federated States of Micronesia. In addition to her mentoring within the academic realm, she also leads study abroad courses for students in health-related disciplines to explore different healthcare systems, such as those in Sweden and Canada.
Ivanitskaya is dedicated to mentoring students at all academic levels, from doctoral to undergraduate. She facilitates collaboration between students of different levels for research projects and helps them choose topics, teaches scientific methods, and provides guidance on scientific writing. This has resulted in the publication of many of her mentees’ research in journals and presentations at international conferences.
Dr. Rossow’s dissertation on “Healthcare Workers’ Willingness to Report to Work During an Influenza Pandemic” led to two publications and had relevance during the Covid-19 pandemic, one notable dissertation among many others that she has guided under her mentorship. Matthew Bogner DHA describes her as the best teacher and mentor he’s ever had highlighting her positive, encouraging, supportive approach that shaped his career along with many other successful careers under her guidance
