Sarah Emmerich, Director of Digital & Blended Learning, recently earned the Certified Education Technology Leader® (CETL®) designation after passing a challenging certification exam. This accolade, bestowed by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), showcases that Mrs. Emmerich possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to implement 21st-century technology in K-12 schools and other educational institutions.

Keith Krueger, CAE, Chief Executive Officer of CoSN, commended Mrs. Emmerich’s achievement, stating that obtaining the CETL certification demonstrates a dedication to bringing modern learning methods to educational institutions. He also emphasized the importance of staying updated in the rapidly evolving field of educational technology, as CETL-certified leaders commit to ongoing professional development activities every three years.

To attain this certification, candidates must have practical experience in the education technology sector and pass a comprehensive exam based on the 10 skill areas outlined in CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO. Once certified, education technology leaders (“ETLs”) like Mrs. Emmerich must complete 60 hours of professional development activities within a three-year period to maintain their designation.
