After two years of searching, Claremont Enterprises has found what they believe is the perfect location to expand their services by adding a crematorium in Kern County. President Richard Woody assures nearby businesses that there will be no visible smoke or odors from the crematorium, and that it will not impact their operations.

However, some businesses in the area are still unconvinced. Pete Leveroni, representing a group of businesses opposed to the crematorium, cites concerns about emissions, heat, odors, and economic impact. There are worries about potential risks in case of accidents, including smoke and water damage, business interruptions, and utility impacts.

Woody maintains that there is no cause for concern, as they have conducted a health risk assessment proving there is no risk associated with their cremation operations. While some studies have associated emissions from crematoriums with health effects, no research has found a direct link between these emissions and negative health impacts.

The decision to approve the crematory will be made by the Kern County Planning Commission on Thursday. If approved, the public will have the opportunity to appeal the decision before it goes to the board of supervisors. Supervisor Phillip Peters has declined to comment on the matter. Woody asserts that they chose the location strategically due to its low-density population and believes it is a good fit for their operations.

If approved by Kern County Planning Commission on Thursday then public can appeal this decision before it goes to board of supervisors but Richard Woody believes that there is nothing much to worry about as they have conducted thorough research proving no risk associated with their cremation operations
