Two exciting events are coming up at Cornell Cinema that will allow attendees to explore science through the medium of film. The cinema’s “Science on Screen” initiative has two upcoming showings that will be presented by experts in their respective fields.

On Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m., post-doc Xuan Chen from the Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) will present a showing titled “Particle Fever,” CLASSE, and the Future of Particle Physics. This documentary explores the search for dark matter particles using the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest particle accelerator.

On Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m., Eilyan Bitar, an associate Professor and David Croll Sesquicentennial Faculty Fellow in electrical and computer engineering at the College of Engineering, will present a showing titled “Back to the Future” and the Future of Electric Vehicles. This classic sci-fi film explores the potential impact of electric vehicles on society in the future.

The Science on Screen initiative is a collaboration between Cornell Cinema and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. It pairs current films with introductions by experts from various scientific fields, allowing attendees to learn about science while enjoying a cinematic experience.
