As the 2024 NFL Draft comes to a close, attention is already shifting to the next big thing: the class of 2025. In an early mock draft from CBS Sports NFL Draft expert Ryan Wilson, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is projected as the top pick. Sanders, son of NFL star and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, has been highly regarded for his skills and winning mentality.

Despite a rocky start to his college career at Jackson State, Sanders found success at Colorado with his father by his side. In 2023, the Buffaloes struggled with a losing record of 7-8 despite having a high-powered offense led by Sanders that averaged 30.8 points per game. However, the defense was not up to par, giving up an average of 38 points per game.

While some experts have raised concerns about managing Sanders differently due to his father’s involvement in both football and coaching, they have also praised his talent on the field. In addition to being highly regarded by NFL evaluators for his performance at Jackson State and Colorado, he was even considered a first-round pick had he entered the 2024 draft.

Sanders’ impressive passing ability has been on full display throughout his time at Power 5 schools. He has completed a high percentage of his throws with a good touchdown-to-interception ratio, making him a valuable asset for any team looking for a talented quarterback in the upcoming draft class.
