Over the past year, more than 750,000 Sudanese and Chadians have fled Darfur and sought refuge in the 32 entry points in eastern Chad. This makes Chad the country most affected by the crisis in Sudan, with over 44% of Sudanese refugees living there. Thousands of new arrivals are reported every week, and these refugees reside in both formal and informal camps across 11 health districts in the provinces of Ennedi East, Ouaddaï, Sila, and Wadi Fira.

However, access to essential health services in these camps is disrupted due to difficult physical access, limited human and material resources, and an inability to pay for healthcare. This humanitarian situation is further compounded by epidemics of dengue fever, measles, and hepatitis E. In total, over 6,692 people have been injured and treated with support from organizations such as MSF-F, PUI, the ICRC, and an international emergency team deployed by the WHO.

As a result of recent fighting reported in Sudan that is likely to lead to new arrivals at the Tiné and Birak entry points in Wadi Fira’s province, this crisis continues to worsen. With only three months left before the rainy season begins
