In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Cedar Rapids firefighters were called to a business on fire in the 1500 block of 1st Avenue. Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.

Fire crews arrived on the scene around 2:30 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire from the exterior through a window. This resulted in light fire damage to the building and moderate smoke damage throughout. TV9 crews near the scene reported that firefighters blocked off the road near the building as they worked to clear the scene.

Although the road was temporarily closed, police indicated that it would fully reopen once crews had finished their work. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and further details have not been released at this time. Copyright 2024 KCRG. All rights reserved.
