On Wednesday night, the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved a permit for an Uptown business to build a ramp to assist customers with disabilities. The ramp will be added to Jamie Decker’s Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness on Granite Street. After almost two hours of public comment, the commissioners unanimously approved Decker’s request.

Over 20 community members spoke about the importance of the ramp for individuals with disabilities during the public comment period. Their emotional testimony had a significant impact on the commissioners, leading them to approve the permit for the ramp. This decision was a result of much persistence and hard work by Decker, who initially tried to secure approval for the ramp in June of last year. However, her request was repeatedly denied due to concerns about liability and encroachment onto a public right-of-way.

The construction of the ramp will now improve accessibility for customers with disabilities at Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness. This move is expected to have a positive impact on the community as it provides greater inclusivity and equality for individuals with disabilities.
