In Cocoa, Florida, a proposal to allocate $5 million in local funds to support the construction of a Brightline passenger train stop along the tracks is being considered by Brevard County. The project has a total cost of nearly $75 million and will be up for a vote at the next county commission meeting. The proposed 90-acre site for the train stop is located at the beach line curve of State Road 528 and U.S. Highway 1, which is significant as trains must slow down at this curve to make the turn south.

The Tourism Development Council has already allocated $5 million for project development, and local business owners like Paul Hill, co-owner of Dirty Oar Beer Company in Cocoa Village, are eager for the train stop to be built. If approved, the project could create new economic opportunities and increase tourism in the region. The City of Cocoa spokesperson, Samantha Segner, believes that the train stop will be a transformative project not only for Cocoa but for the entire Space Coast region. Employment opportunities, tourism, and leisure travel are all expected to increase with the development of the train stop.

The Brightline train stop in Cocoa has the potential to bring significant benefits to the local community and the broader Space Coast area. If approved by Brevard County Commission during their upcoming May 2 meeting, this project could create new economic opportunities and increase tourism in the region. With additional federal funding efforts also being made towards securing funding for this project, it could transform not only Cocoa but also enhance transportation infrastructure in other parts of Florida as well as other neighboring states
