A new series by the Center on Health Equity and Access is set to launch with an episode of The Managed Care Cast. This series will focus on initiatives in the US that aim to reduce health care disparities and close the accessibility gap. The goal of this series is to highlight actionable frameworks for improving equity in the health care sector.

One of the key takeaways from this episode is the need to expand services and reach out to more underserved populations. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of destigmatizing unstable housing, substance use, and mental health care within the health care system. Training peers on how to provide effective health equity initiatives for these populations is also highlighted.

The first episode of “Frameworks for Advancing Health Equity” will feature an innovative program called Urban Health Outreach led by the Center for Inclusion Health at Allegheny Health Network (AHN). Mary Sligh, CRNP, and Chelsea Chappars, project manager for Urban Health Outreach and Humane Health Coalition, share their experiences providing care for individuals experiencing homelessness and discuss their multifaceted approach.

Listeners can find this episode on platforms such as iTunes, TuneIn, Stitcher, and Spotify.
