Rimac Technology and BMW Group have announced a long-term partnership aimed at jointly developing and producing innovative high-voltage battery technology for select battery-electric vehicles. The partnership will bring together the strengths of each company, with the BMW Group leveraging its leading position in premium electric mobility and Rimac Technology as a Tier 1 supplier specializing in electrification within the automotive industry.

The BMW Group’s focus on electrification strategy is to expand its expertise in battery and electric drive systems, aiming to have battery-electric vehicles account for over half of global vehicle sales by 2030. Rimac Technology, as part of the Rimac Group, specializes in high-voltage battery packs, e-axles, electronics, and software solutions, offering advanced technology with a high degree of customization.

The partnership with the BMW Group signifies Rimac Technology’s shift from a niche high-performance solutions supplier to a high-volume Tier 1 supplier, with plans for growth including the opening of the Rimac Campus. While details of the strategic tie-up have not yet been disclosed, both companies are working towards a shared goal of advancing electric vehicle technology and delivering projects at the highest automotive standards.

In addition to this new partnership, the BMW Group is preparing to launch the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology, which promises significant improvements in range and charging time for customers. Further developments and collaborations between the two companies will be announced in the future.
