To make delicious homemade strawberry jam, follow these simple steps:

First, gather about 2 quarts of fresh strawberries and wash them thoroughly. Next, hull the strawberries by removing the stems, leaves, and any underripe or bad spots. You can use a potato masher or food processor to crush the berries into a pulp consistency.

Now that you have your crushed strawberries, it’s time to start cooking. In a large heavy-bottomed pot, mix in 5 cups of the crushed fruit and one box of Sure-Jell. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, stir in 7 cups of granulated sugar and continue to cook for one full minute. Be sure not to let it burn!

Once your jam has reached its desired consistency and flavor level, remove it from heat and ladle it into prepared jars. The jars should be washed, rinsed and heated to 200 degrees Fahrenheit beforehand to prevent cracking during processing. Fill each jar with jam leaving about 1-2 inches of headspace at the top. Wipe the rim and threads clean before attaching sanitized lids and rings.

Now that your jars are filled, it’s time to process them in a hot water bath for 10 minutes. Place the jars on a rack in a canning pot with at least two inches of water above them, then cover the pot with a lid and boil for ten minutes before carefully removing them from the canner allowing them to cool down at room temperature before checking that they are properly sealed.
