Athens, Greece has been crowned the world’s best-smelling city, according to a recent study by HAYPP. The study analyzed 30 major cities in Europe and beyond, taking into account factors such as cleanliness, the proportion of flower shops, bakeries, and perfume shops in order to give each city a ‘smell score’.

Athens scored an impressive 8.3 out of 10 on the smell-o-meter, thanks to its diverse scent offerings. From bustling street markets filled with the aroma of fresh produce, herbs and delicious Greek dishes wafting through the air, to its many bakeries serving up treats like Tiropita and Baklava, Athens is a sensory delight.

Paris and Zurich also made it onto the list of the world’s nicest smelling cities. Paris is known for its romantic ambiance and elegant boulevards while Zurich is celebrated for its cleanliness and picturesque surroundings. Dublin, Luxembourg and Amsterdam are also on the list for their delightful scents that make them stand out from the rest.
