This month, the United States delivered long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, even before American Congress approved new aid to Kyiv. President Joe Biden made the direct request for the shipment of these missiles in February, which arrived in Ukraine in March as part of the latest aid package. The inclusion of the missiles in the aid package was not announced at the time for operational security reasons, at Ukraine’s request.

The arrival of these missiles on the frontlines marks a significant turning point for Ukraine, as they have a much greater range than the missiles it previously had. Their use has been deemed crucial for Ukraine’s success and it has requested partners to provide them as soon as possible for use within its borders.

In the past, there were concerns about delivering such missiles to Ukraine, with fears that it could escalate the conflict with Russia. However, Ukraine has now used American ATACMS missiles against Russia for the first time in October, with these recently delivered missiles having an even longer range.

The significance of these missiles in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia cannot be understated. They have been proven to be effective weapons against Russian bases and will undoubtedly give Ukrainian forces an advantage on the battlefield.

President Biden’s decision to provide these weapons is a clear sign that he is committed to helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression. It also sends a strong message to Putin that America will not stand idly by while he continues his aggression towards NATO countries and their allies.

Overall, this move by President Biden is a positive step towards maintaining peace and stability in Eastern Europe.
