On Thursday, the World Cup finals in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria faced the cancellation of both men’s and women’s downhill training sessions. Despite Wednesday’s sessions proceeding as planned, the decision was made to protect the slope for the speed races due to predicted elevated temperatures and more rain. The cancellation aimed to ensure optimal conditions for the upcoming super-G races on Friday, the women’s downhill on Saturday, and the men’s downhill on Sunday, which concludes the season.

Lara Gut-Behrami is currently leading both the super-G and downhill categories with a significant advantage over her competitors. In super-G, she holds a 69-point lead over her closest competitor, while in downhill, she has a 19-point advantage over Sofia Goggia and a 68-point lead over Stephanie Venier. Meanwhile, Marco Odermatt has clinched his third consecutive overall championship and giant slalom title weeks ago and currently leads by 81 points in super-G standings and 42 points in downhill.
