Karly Weathers of Alabama has been named to the College Sports Communicators’ Women’s Basketball Academic All-District Team. This is the first time she has received this honor in her career.

Weathers, who is currently pursuing a degree in nursing and maintains an impressive 4.0 GPA, had an outstanding performance during the past season. She appeared in 34 games and made four starts, achieving her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a victory against Arkansas on Feb. 1. Weathers also had a standout performance in the NCAA Tournament win over Florida State, scoring 18 points with five rebounds and five steals. She finished fourth on the team with 132 rebounds, averaging 3.9 per game. Weathers was a key player in securing Alabama’s double-bye in the SEC Tournament with a win over Texas A&M.

Weathers has played a significant role in the team’s success, helping to lead Alabama to back-to-back 20-win seasons since joining as a freshman last year.
