CompTIA has recently announced the launch of two new certification programs to help individuals develop and maintain AI skills. The first program, called AI Essentials, is set to be released in July 2024 and will focus on AI skills competencies across various tech career areas and roles, including software development, cybersecurity, systems operations (SysOps), and data analytics. Additionally, it covers job roles like prompt engineering and AI systems architecture.

The AI Essentials program is designed to be applicable to any occupation, whether in tech-specific positions or adjacent roles that rely on technology. It will cover topics such as the landscape of AI, available AI tools, challenges in AI, benefits of AI for creativity and work enhancement, and future implications of AI.

In addition to the Essentials series, CompTIA has also launched an Expansion Series certification program for individuals with CompTIA Plus (+) or Pro certification in areas like security engineering, penetration testing, security analysis, data analysis, systems operations, tech support, AI systems architecture, and prompt engineering. Future expansion releases will focus on skillsets for fully leveraging AI in systems operations
