Agscent has emerged as the winner of the Pitch In The Paddock competition at Beef2024 in Rockhampton, besting seven other finalists in the only pitching event of its kind in the world. This highly competitive competition provides entrepreneurs with the chance to showcase their beef-focused business concepts, prototypes, or new products to a large audience of beef stakeholders and consumers in the Southern Hemisphere.

After the success of Pitch In The Paddock at previous Beef events, this year saw a record number of applicants vying for a spot in the final eight. The lucky finalists were given the opportunity to present a five-minute pitch to a panel of judges and a live audience during today’s event.

Managing Director and Founder of Agscent, Dr. Bronwyn Darlington, captivated the panel with her company’s innovative use of NASA-licensed technology to create groundbreaking breath-sensing devices. These devices are poised to transform methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics through an affordable nanotechnology platform.

Dr. Darlington’s inspiration for Agscent came from her realization of the potential behind breath diagnostics technology originally developed for humans. By adapting this technology to her family’s large cattle and sheep property in rural New South Wales, she has set the stage for a new wave of advancements in the agricultural industry.

Beef Australia Board Director, Jess Webb, praised Dr. Darlington for her groundbreaking work, noting that she is “shifting the dial” in the industry.”
