The Salt Lake City Downtown Alliance is excited about the NHL announcement that will bring a new team to the city. As Dee Brewer, Executive Director of the organization, expressed anticipation for more entertainment options to draw customers downtown.

The arrival of the NHL team means an extra 41 nights of entertainment in the downtown area, and businesses in the central business district are looking forward to increased foot traffic and profits. According to Brewer, this could result in 500,000 to 600,000 new customer visits next year.

Brewer highlighted that the Delta Center, where the NHL team will play, plays a crucial role in the downtown economy as it hosted a majority of the top visitation days downtown last year. The center is not only important for professional sports but also for concerts, shows and other forms of entertainment. This presents an opportunity for businesses to attract a different demographic.

The hospitality sector is also expected to see growth with the arrival of the NHL team. Hotels, bars and restaurants are likely to benefit from increased foot traffic and business activity stimulated by the hockey games. Overall, Brewer believes that this announcement is great news for Salt Lake City’s downtown area and its economy as a whole.
