The Detroit High School Sports Awards, presented by Detroit Area Honda Dealers, is thrilled to unveil the nominees for the Hockey Player of the Year. The winner will be crowned during a live show on June 18 at The Fillmore Detroit, in collaboration with the U.S. Army.

This program forms part of a nine-month student-athlete recognition drive that will culminate in a red-carpet event this spring. It aims to celebrate athletes, coaches, and teams from the greater Detroit region participating in sanctioned Michigan High School Athletic Association sports.

During the live show, nominees will be honored, including players of the year for the other 28 sports. The awards ceremony will also feature special accolades for student-athletes, coaches, and teams who demonstrate exceptional on- and off-the-field achievements. These include the Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Teams of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year.

All nominees who confirm their attendance will receive complimentary tickets to the event thanks to sponsors. Nominated athletes can register for the show while guests of nominees can purchase tickets online.

The Hockey Player of the Year nominees are Will Barrett from Trenton High School, Joe Curtin from Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School, Garrett Dudlar from Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood School, Cam Duffany from Brighton High School, Nolan Galda from Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School and John Kunz from Birmingham Brother Rice High School.[/
