The technology industry is facing a talent shortage, with 78% of Spanish companies struggling to find and hire the right profiles. Rapid growth in the sector, coupled with insufficient training opportunities and the rise of artificial intelligence, has exacerbated the problem. To address this issue, experts like Juan Luis Moreno of The Valley business school recommend investing in training and development to bridge the skills gap and avoid professional stagnation. However, challenges remain such as wage inflation and gender disparities in the industry.

Women represent only 23% of ICT profiles in Spain, which is low. To increase female representation in the sector, addressing issues like wage gaps, lack of mentors, and limited career advancement opportunities for women can help. Investing in training and promoting female role models are crucial steps towards closing the skills gap and achieving gender parity in the technology industry.

Maya Horowitz, vice president of research at Check Point Software Technologies emphasizes the importance of education and mentorship to encourage more girls to pursue careers in technology. Her colleague Francisco Criado believes that artificial intelligence can help reposition talent and address the skills shortage in the industry. However, it is expected that the gap will persist for some time, requiring continued investment in training and development to fill it.

In senior management positions within technology companies, there are individuals trained in philosophy who bring philosophical principles to their work. Sergio Boixo studied philosophy before becoming a reference in quantum physics at Google Quantum. Bobby Ford also studied human actions before becoming vice president at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Bobby Ford emphasizes finding talent within existing workforce rather than seeking externally by focusing on experience over talent. While he recognizes Kantian concept of considering a person as an end rather than just a means can be applied when hiring employees.

As technology continues to grow rapidly with new developments like artificial intelligence emerging every day it becomes increasingly important for companies to create ways for their employees to stay current with these developments while ensuring they have enough resources available so they can adapt effectively.

Overall there is a need for companies to invest heavily into training programs that will allow them to stay competitive while also being able to provide their employees with opportunities for growth within their careers as well as attract new talent from diverse backgrounds such as women who may have been deterred from pursuing careers due to gender disparities or lack of representation within certain industries.
