The former Chapel Hill Mall, located in Akron at the intersection of Brittain Road, Buchholzer Boulevard, and Howe and Independence avenues, has undergone a significant transformation. It is now operating as a business park owned by Industrial Commercial Properties (ICP) and Storage of America. The mall’s size was once an impressive 900,000 square feet but after the transformation, the complex owned by ICP spans 715,000 square feet on 60 acres of land. Additionally, Storage of America owns a 169,000 square foot building at the former Macy’s location on 8 acres of land.

Despite the changes, there are still opportunities for businesses to lease space in the park as 40,826 square feet remain available. Since the mall closed in 2021 four new businesses have been established in the complex. Notably Storage of America had already purchased the former Macy’s building in 2019 prior to the mall’s closure. Overall it appears that the former Chapel Hill Mall has seen a promising revitalization as it transitions into a thriving business park under new ownership.
