In 2019, they handled a similar situation with Tyreek Hill by keeping him away from offseason workouts while authorities looked into an incident involving his son. Hill was ultimately not charged in that case.
If Rice is found guilty of these charges, it could lead to significant consequences for him both personally and professionally. The Chiefs have the option to release him, which would avoid paying him while he is unavailable to play. However, this decision may be difficult given Rice’s status as a key player on the team and his guaranteed salary of $1.045 million for 2024.
