Two standout science research students from Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School, Alexander Grosh and Katie Engel, have been selected to participate in the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Partners for the Future Program. This program is highly competitive and chooses a limited number of juniors who demonstrate a strong interest and academic excellence in biology, chemistry, or computer science from both public and private high schools on Long Island.

This year, 15 students were chosen from high schools across Long Island, with nominees being selected by the science faculty at their respective schools and required to submit a written application followed by a personal interview process conducted by a CSH Laboratory mentor.

The program offers an incredible opportunity for accepted students to work alongside world-class scientists engaged in cutting-edge research. Alexander Grosh presented his research at the CSHL Grace Auditorium on March 19th, having worked in the Meyer Lab with Rishvanth Kaliappan Prabakar on Lineage Tracing Thymic Epithelial Cells Using SCATAC-seq. Katie Engel also presented her findings at the auditorium, having conducted her research in the Koo Lab with Peter Koo on Rethinking Initialization Strategies for Deep Learning in Genomics.
