During a video conference with the European Council, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of defeating Putin’s system in the war against Ukraine. He stated that this war is not only against Ukraine but against all of Europe and the European way of life. Zelensky highlighted the differences between Putin’s system and the European system, emphasizing the lack of human rights and dignity in Putin’s approach.

Zelensky expressed gratitude for the assistance fund for Ukraine and support for purchasing ammunition for Ukrainian soldiers. However, he urged Europe to do more, stating that the current level of support should send a strong message to Putin and his allies about the consequences of further aggression. Zelensky stressed the need to use Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine and mitigate the destruction caused by the aggressor.

The Ukrainian president called for progress in using Russia’s frozen assets and ensuring that Russia pays the price for the war. He emphasized the importance of using profits from Russian activities to rebuild Ukraine, support the country, and purchase weapons to combat terrorism. Zelensky urged Europe to demonstrate its commitment to peace and show Putin the real cost of aggression.

In addition, Zelensky highlighted how this war is not just limited to Ukraine but has far-reaching implications on Europe as well as on global security. He urged Europeans to understand that their security is at stake if they fail to stop Putin’s aggression.

Furthermore, Zelenskiy also pointed out that it is time for Russia to stop its actions towards Ukraine and respect its territorial integrity. He reminded that it is not just about Ukraine but also about democracy and freedom in general.

Overall, Zelenskiy’s speech was a powerful call for unity among EU member states in their efforts towards stopping Putin’s aggression against Ukraine and defending democracy globally.
