X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, has announced that it now allows AI-generated adult content as long as it is labeled. This marks a shift in X’s policies, giving the green light to consensual and properly labeled images and videos that include nudity and sexual content, as well as AI-generated pornography.

However, creators must ensure that their content is posted consensually and not displayed prominently. X requires users to activate settings that will display a warning on pornographic posts. Individuals under the age of 18 or those who do not provide their birthday will not be able to access this content. X strictly prohibits content that exploits or sexualizes minors.

The company believes in the autonomy of adults to create and engage with content that reflects their beliefs, desires, and experiences. In March, Bloomberg reported that X was testing the creation of NSFW communities. The head of engineering mentioned that the platform would make ‘likes’ private, allowing users to like edgy content without detection.

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter and renamed it X, the platform has aimed to relax content restrictions and reduce moderation. Porn bots have exploited the algorithm changes that prioritize post engagement, leading to widespread memes. X is adapting to the changing landscape of adult content on social media by implementing new policies while upholding user autonomy.
