The Western Australian Government has teamed up with Founders Factory to invest in nature-tech start-ups that work towards preserving and restoring nature and biodiversity. As a result, four lucky start-ups will receive a cash investment and have the opportunity to participate in a four-month accelerator program managed by Founders Factory. This program is designed to assist with product development and commercialization efforts.

This partnership with Rio Tinto is paving the way for the establishment of the first Australian hub of Founders Factory in Perth. Currently, Founders Factory operates in various locations around the world including London, Johannesburg, Milan, Berlin, Bratislava, New York, and Singapore. Rio Tinto iron ore chief executive Simon Trott highlighted the importance of technology in the mining industry and expressed his belief that Western Australia has the potential to become the Silicon Valley of the global mining industry.

With support from industry leaders and the State Government, both local and international start-ups stand to benefit from investment opportunities and access to resources for real-world testing and scaling. This collaboration aims to foster growth in Western Australia’s innovation economy. Premier Roger Cook praised this achievement, emphasizing how it presents opportunities for local businesses to gain international exposure and enhance their chances of success. This marks a significant milestone for Western Australia as it’s the first time that Founders Factory will operate in Australia.
