Early Wednesday morning, strong storms caused significant damage in west Harris County near Katy, Texas. The Firestone building collapsed and the Bourbon Street Sports Bar sustained significant damage at a business center off of South Mason Road, south of Kingsland Blvd.

At around 3 a.m., the front windows of the Bourbon Street Sports Bar blew out, leaving debris strewn across the parking lot. Fortunately, authorities reported no injuries despite employees being in the sports bar at the time of the storm.

The National Weather Service will have to determine whether a tornado occurred after authorities reported a small gas leak due to the damage. As a precaution, gas and electricity in the block were turned off.

FOX 26 Chief Meteorologist Mike Iscovitz measured 75 mph winds at cloud level over the small area at Kingsland Blvd around the time of the damage, explaining why the region was affected by such strong winds during this storm.
