The Wellstar Columbia County Medical Center is set to open in 2026 and will feature 100 inpatient beds, an emergency department planned to be a Level II trauma center, a surgical platform with operating rooms and specialties like interventional radiology and endoscopy. Additionally, there will be a 90,000-square-foot medical office building offering primary care, women’s health, and other specialties.

Wellstar will host a groundbreaking and beam signing ceremony for the Wellstar Columbia County Medical Center. The event will be attended by Governor Brian Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, Chancellor of the University System of Georgia Sonny Perdue, President of Augusta University Dr. Brooks Keel, Chairman of the Columbia County Board of Commissioners Doug Duncan, President and CEO of Wellstar Health System Candice L. Saunders, and Hospital President of Wellstar MCG Health Ralph Turner.

This groundbreaking event marks an important step in bringing quality healthcare services to the residents of Columbia County and reinforces Wellstar’s commitment to providing exceptional care to all those in need. The new medical center will provide residents of Columbia County and surrounding areas with access to world-class care from Wellstar MCG Health. The hospital’s location near I-20 will complement the resources offered by Wellstar MCG Health in Richmond County, expanding access to care for the community.
