The retail giant, Walmart, has announced the closure of its 51 health centers in five states and its telehealth business. The company stated that there is not a sustainable business model for them to continue operating the health centers, which have been providing low-cost medical care to patients for five years. This decision will impact patients, associates, providers, and communities.

Since their introduction in 2019, Walmart has opened 51 clinics in five states across the U.S. These health centers are located next to Walmart Supercenters and offer a variety of services including medical, dental, and behavioral health care. However, as of now, specific details regarding the closure dates of each center have not been decided upon yet.

In Texas alone, Walmart has eight health centers located in various locations such as Fort Worth, Garland, Palestine, Pearland, Royse City, Sugar Land, Tomball and Tyler. More information about these health centers can be found on Walmart’s website. As decisions about the closure dates are made by the retailer intends to share further details with the public.
