Eligible customers who have been overcharged by Walmart for weighted goods and bagged citrus can now claim compensation. The company has reached a $45 million settlement to resolve the issue, and claimants can receive up to $500 with proof of purchase.

The settlement applies to customers who have shopped at Walmart in the US or Puerto Rico between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, and have purchased certain items like packaged meat or bagged citrus. Claimants must submit their claim by June 5 either online or by mail, along with proof of purchase. With proof of purchase, claimants can receive 2% of the total cost of eligible items, up to $500.

However, if you have lost your receipts or do not have proof of purchase, there is still a way to claim compensation. Claimants without proof can receive varying amounts based on the weight of the eligible goods purchased. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for June 12.

If you are unsure whether items you purchased fall under the categories described in the settlement, a full list of eligible goods is available. However, do not expect to receive any compensation before the final approval hearing in June.
