In 2027, Volkswagen will unveil its entry-level electric car to the world. The car will be manufactured in Europe and is expected to cost around 20,000 euros. CEO Oliver Blume has emphasized the importance of providing affordable electric mobility within Europe.

The brand’s core promise is to make electromobility accessible to everyone, and the upcoming entry-level electric car is a step toward fulfilling that commitment. It is part of the Core brand group, which includes VW, Škoda, Seat, and Cupra. The specific model from the group that will be released in 2027 has not been disclosed yet.

Volkswagen’s entry-level electric car will face competition from emerging Chinese electric car manufacturers. Additionally, a related Skoda model will be introduced to fill the gap left by the discontinued Citigo subcompact car. Both vehicles are expected to contribute to the growing market for affordable electric vehicles.
