Van Hool, the struggling bus manufacturer, has announced that it will pay its employees and workers their wages for March. Although the company is still facing bankruptcy and has yet to secure additional financing for its recovery plan, this reassurance from management has been received with relief by trade unions and other stakeholders.

The potential impending bankruptcy of Van Hool puts around 2,500 employees at risk of losing their jobs temporarily. This not only jeopardizes their severance pay but also raises concerns about payment for workers’ wages in March. While employees are typically paid at the end of the month, workers were scheduled to receive their wages on April 3. However, recent doubts from unions about this timeline have been assuaged by management’s confirmation that wages will be paid on April 3. This announcement has been welcomed by ABVV secretary Hans Vandeerdewegh and Flemish Minister of Economy Jo Brouns, who expressed positive feedback on this resolution.

As crucial work lies ahead in the coming days, all parties involved are urged to collaborate harmoniously to address the challenges faced by Van Hool. With a peaceful resolution now possible for March wages, stakeholders can focus on finding a long-term solution that ensures financial stability and job security for those affected by this difficult situation.
