The USA is set to participate in their first-ever cricket World Cup, which they are co-hosting with the West Indies. Despite a rainout against Ireland in Florida that saw the match abandoned without a ball being bowled, the USA has qualified for the Super 8s stage of the T20 World Cup.

The match against Ireland was scheduled to start at 15:30 BST, with a cut-off time for a five-over match at 19:16 BST. Other teams that have also qualified from different groups include Australia, West Indies, Afghanistan, and South Africa. Co-hosts USA and India have advanced to the next round from their group, eliminating Ireland, Canada, and Pakistan.

The Super 8s are set to begin on Wednesday, with the USA facing South Africa in Antigua. The USA is ranked 18th in the world and played their first T20 international in 2019. They have managed to reach the Super 8s in their debut World Cup appearance after defeating Canada and shocking Pakistan in a super over. However, they faced a tough challenge against India but put up a good fight.

Irish cricket commentator Andrew Leonard expressed disappointment for Ireland after their disappointing tournament.
