In 2023, a survey revealed that 8% of enterprises in the EU with 10 or more employees used AI technologies to conduct their business. The article “Statistics Explained: Artificial Intelligence in Enterprises” provides an update on the use of AI in these businesses.

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to systems that utilize various technologies such as text mining, computer vision, speech recognition, natural language generation, machine learning, and deep learning to gather and/or use data to make decisions or predictions with varying levels of autonomy.

According to the survey, Denmark had the highest share of enterprises with 10 or more employees using AI technologies at 15.2%, followed by Finland at 15.1% and Luxembourg at 14.4%. On the other hand, Romania had the lowest share at 1.5%, while Bulgaria had a share of 3.6%, Poland had a share of 3.7%, and Hungary also had a share of 3.7%.

When it comes to the types of AI technology employed by these enterprises in 2023, automating different workflows or assisting in decision-making through AI-based software robotic process automation was the most utilized technology at 3%. This was followed by performing analysis of written language through text mining at 2.9%, and machine learning through deep learning at 2.6%.
