In recent developments, Kobayashi Corporation is now investigating an additional 76 deaths that have been linked to its red yeast rice supplements. Initially, the company had reported 5 deaths related to the use of this product, but later revised the number to 4 deaths, with one person not having used the supplement. However, new information has emerged and the death toll has risen significantly.

The Ministry of Health has stated that it will continue to investigate the incidents and families of the deceased individuals have been in contact with the company for further analysis. Health Minister Keizo Takemi has criticized Kobayashi Corporation for being slow in reporting the incident and announced that the ministry will directly manage the investigation into the deaths.

Kobayashi Corporation has suggested that the deaths may have been caused by chemicals produced during the processing of red yeast rice. The company found puberulic acid, a natural compound derived from blue mold, in the ingredients used in the supplements. The ministry has received numerous inquiries about the issue and has set up a government hotline to address concerns. It has also emphasized that the products have not been licensed for circulation in Vietnam, urging people not to buy them through social networks or carry them by hand.

Overall, it is clear that this situation surrounding Kobayashi’s red yeast rice supplements is far from over. With investigations ongoing and efforts being made to ensure consumer safety, it is important for consumers to be aware of any potential risks associated with these products before using them.
